Become a ForCG author! If you’ve got something interesting to say or if you’d like to share your ideas and help others learn something new you can write a post that will be published on ForCG! If you think that your idea would be perfect to post here then please get in touch with us to become an author and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

We treat every person and every submission individually but there are some guidelines and information that you should read before sending us anything.

Our Topics

This website is mainly focused on computer graphics, however we are also looking for other posts related to graphics and design. We are mainly looking for tutorials but you may also create some resources to download or write an article. This is what we’re mainly interested in:

  • Written tutorials.
  • Video tutorials.
  • Preferably we’re looking for tutorials using one of the following 3D applications: 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, Cinema 4D, Softimage, Mudbox
  • 2D and other applications: Photoshop, Illustrator and more…
  • Blueprints, textures, shaders, models and all kind of other resources for our readers to free download.
  • Reviews of useful tools, plug-ins etc.
  • Other stuff (feel free to suggest anything that you think would fit well here!).

Why to write?

Basically, you get three things from us in return:

  • You get exposure to your work (ForCG is visited by tens of thousands people each month).
  • We give you a link back to your website and a page about you (it helps to promote your person, brand or business for a long time!).
  • All of our authors are getting paid for each published post (the amount of money depends on the quality, type and lenght of the post).

How it works?

Please note that not all submissions will be accepted! We are looking for extensive and good quality posts. To ensure that your posts meet the criteria and will be published please read the following information. We are using four step submission to make you sure that your post will be accepted:

  1. If you’re unsure whether your idea is good enough, let us know about it, and we’ll suggest some changes or accept your idea at once. We strongly recommend that you contact us before writing anything. In case of tutorials please attach the final image (if possible) and a short description of what your are actually going to do in your tutorial. Once our editor review it, we will get back to you.
  2. Once you know that we will be interested in your tutorial, you may write it.
  3. You can send us your tutorial using the email address available at the bottom of this page.
  4. Once we receive your tutorial, it may take us a few hours (up to a few days) before we get back to you. Some tutorials
may not be accepted if they are not what we are looking for or you will be asked to correct some parts of them prior to publishing. In some cases we may modify some parts of your tutorial to eliminate language mistakes.

Do’s and Don’ts

If you’re writing a short post then a standard text file is enough for us but if you’re working on a tutorial read the following:

  • DO NOT send somebody else’s works! It must be your original work!
  • DO NOT use anything (models, images, textures, shaders etc.) that isn’t your own creation unless you have permission of the author.
  • To be sure tell us if you have used anything that isn’t of your own creation.
  • Place your tutorial in a text or .html file.
  • Read a few posts that we’ve already published and make sure that your post looks similarly. Here is a great example of well written tutorial: Create an Awesome 3D Future City
  • Download a sample tutorial file to find out how to format your work.
  • Include all final files for readers to download (.max, .psd etc.).
  • Send all files as a compressed archive (.rar, .zip).
  • Add a readme file to your archive if necessary.
